A diverse range of employers and training organisations came into school today to give information to our Year 7 and Year 8 students during their careers information, advice and guidance (IAG) day.
The visitors included Cumbria Police, who gave the students an array of challenges and even allowed them to try on police kit and act out an arrest.
McDonalds served up a range of problem-solving activities and a careers test to help identify suitable job roles for our students. Carlisle College provided information about options available after school; Oak Tree Animals’ Charity highlighted jobs linked to working with animals; and AB Energy (run by WHS Alumnus Ben Fisher) showcased sustainable energy for the future and careers linked to the sector. There was also a talk from the Xtra Factor through BAE Systems.
It was a fantastic day of new experiences. Thank you to all our visitors for coming into school to support our students. Who knows what career choices it may lead to?
