Our annual Bookbuzz is back, and Year 7 students are getting excited about reading! Each one of them will receive a free book to keep and to enjoy. After watching a video with fun 30-second author pitches, to give them a little taste of what the books are about, Year 7 students visited the Library with their English tutors, to see the 16 titles on offer and to select the one they would like to receive as a gift. Choosing from an array of stories, graphic novels and books packed with fun-facts was not easy, but library staff and English tutors were on hand to help and to advise. The choosing all done, books have been ordered, and we are now looking forward to their arrival.
Bookbuzz is a programme supported by Book Trust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity, and has been specially developed for students aged 11–13, to encourage reading for pleasure and to inspire them to become lifelong readers. Over 1,200 schools join Bookbuzz each year and William Howard is one of them.
