The hidden singing talent of some of our staff was revealed today in a Christmas-special Staff Karaoke.
Sixth Form student, Rufus Skelton drummed up support with his warm-up act of AC/DC’s ‘Black in Black’. Then first up, our crooner of the History Department, Mr Campbell gave a smooth rendition of ‘White Christmas’ (by Bing Crosby), before being joined on stage by Head Student Tom Day, for a change of direction – ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ (by Oasis).
Big stars of the Performing Arts Department, Miss Inglesfield and Nicole Todhunter’s voices soared, as they duetted ‘Defying Gravity’ from the musical ‘Wicked’.
A magical performance of ‘Fairytale of New York’ (by The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl) followed, given by Mr Dawson and Miss Sawdon (plus wig), before members of the Student and Senior Leadership Teams joined together for a rousing finale of ‘Do They Know it’s Christmas?’ (Band Aid).
Students were able to purchase tickets for £1 to witness the star performances during break, and the £170 raised will go towards the launch of a new WHS Radio service.
Thank you to all the fantastic performers, who were great sports, and to our Student Leadership Team for organising the event.
