This week’s Headteacher’s Award goes to Keira in Year 8.
Last week, Keira attended the Outward Bound Residential Trip to Loch Eil, Scotland, alongside 47 Year 8 and 9 students. The experience focused on building resilience — one of our school’s core values — by taking students well beyond their comfort zones through a range of physically and mentally demanding activities, all while being many miles away from home comforts.
At the start of the trip, Keira had reservations about some of the more challenging water-based activities, including ‘jog and dip’, canoeing, and gorge walking. However, she demonstrated outstanding resilience and determination, successfully completing every challenge she faced. As the week progressed, Keira’s confidence grew significantly, and she recognised just how much she had learnt about her own abilities and her positive, ‘can do’ mindset. She is now an ambassador for the opportunities and personal growth these experiences can provide. Keira should be incredibly proud of the courage, perseverance, and positivity she showed throughout the trip.
Keira is also an exceptional student in the classroom, consistently taking responsibility for her own learning and striving to achieve in each lesson. She approaches every task with determination, earning numerous Learner of the Lessons and House points in recognition of her commitment to our core values.
The resilience she demonstrated at Loch Eil is clearly evident in the way she applies herself academically, showing perseverance even when faced with challenges. Keira’s positive attitude and dedication make her a role model to others, and she is a well‑deserving recipient of the Headteacher’s Award.
