Today, Sam from the Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation came into school to talk to our Year 9 students about the effects and risks of taking drugs and alcohol.
The DSM Foundation is a drug and alcohol education charity that was set up by Fiona and Tim Spargo-Mabbs in 2014 after their 16-year-old son Daniel died following an accidental overdose of ecstasy. The aim of the charity is to support young people to make safer choices about drugs and alcohol, and reduce harm.
Mr Byers, teacher of PD, said: “Our Year 9 students engaged well in both sessions today and I was very impressed with some of the things they remembered from previous PD lessons and the questions students asked to clarify their understanding. We are looking forward to delivering the follow up lessons provided by the DSM Foundation during regular PD lesson time over the next few weeks.”
