Year 9 Agriculture students visited Dobcross Hall Farm, a local dairy farm in Gaitsgill near Dalston, last week. The visit helped to illustrate the skill and care that goes into raising and maintaining a dairy herd. Their topic ‘Field to bottle’ allowed the students to get firsthand practical experience of a typical day on a dairy farm, and how bottled milk comes from a well-maintained animal and the grass it consumes.
Here, the students are being shown how important hoof care is.
