Our Get Cosy and Read Day on Friday set the vibe for the weekend. What better way to spend a stormy day, than huddled down with a good book in a cosy corner?
The day, intended to nurture a love of reading, was filled with imaginative book related activities during lessons, including making graphic novels in History, story scramble in Maths, and reading ‘Horrible Science’ books in Science. In English lessons, book trees sprung up in classrooms with book review leaves adorning their branches.
Lots of students and staff took the option to spend the day in fluffy pyjamas or comfy lounge wear. During the morning, Year 7 students listened to a big fireside story read by Sixth Form students before writing their own book reviews and receiving their free Bookbuzz books. There was an opportunity for everyone to bring in a pre-loved book and swap it for another at the Book Swap stall too.
Mrs Mallin-Cruddace, who arranged the day, was pleased to report there were over 100 entries to the Creative Writing competition, and around £100 was raised from the bake sale which will be put towards getting some books for the common rooms. (A big thank you to the staff and Sixth Form students who baked and ran the cake selling).
Happy reading everyone!
