8YT have been tasked with building their own authentic Spanish Galleon to recreate the Spanish Armada of 1588 in Mr Campbell’s History class this week.
The class had to plot the points of the invasion as well as analysing the reasons for Spain’s failure. The students’ galleons sailed around the British Isles on the classroom floor before making their way back to Spain.
Mr Campbell said: “The examples the students created were truly jaw-dropping, from ‘working’ cannons and huge sails, to clever 2D designs and lanterns representing the damage inflicted by English cannons – all of the class should be truly proud of their achievements!”
