Year 9 student Paloma O’Connor was presented with this week’s Headteacher’s Award. She was recognised as being simply exceptional, especially in PE. Paloma participates in many extra-curricular activities and teams, going out of her way to help organise teams and is always willing to step in and play, even if it is last minute.
When performing she is a leader, giving praise and motivation to the other team members whilst playing to an excellent standard herself. Paloma will take the team talk, organise the warm up and encourages the team to do three cheers at the end of a game. She even ensures the team picks a ‘player of the game’. Doing all this without being prompted. Paloma is an excellent role model to both older and younger students. Her talents do not just reside in PE, but also in the world of textiles where she follows her passion and encourages others to do the same. Academically Paloma strives to be the best she can be, striving for excellence in all her lessons and achieving many ‘Learners of the Lesson’ and House Points since the start of the new year. She is an exceptional student who is more than worthy of this award.
