In response to a request from the Intensive Care Unit at the Cumberland Infirmary, our Crochet Club decided to create some crochet hearts to be included in memory boxes for bereaved families.
They managed to make over 160 hearts and delivered them to the hospital on Friday. A lady from the ICU unit came down and explained to us the importance of these hearts and how they are used. Our pupils handled this difficult and upsetting conversation with complete maturity and sensitivity. They left feeling very proud of their accomplishments in Crochet Club and their positive contributions to a really important cause.
The pupils reliably attended Crochet Club on Tuesday lunchtimes and after school sessions to refine their crochet skills and have finished the year as avid crocheters and masters of a new hobby!
Trainee Teacher, Miss Seal, who runs the club, remarked: “I am so proud of the students and how they represented our school.”
Thank you for everyone’s support in running this club.
