Year 9 students have begun their journey towards GCSE options with an inspiring, fast-moving Careers Morning.
WHS Careers Lead, Mrs Hill, started off the day with an introductory talk explaining the different levels of study (GCSEs are Level 2 qualifications), and highlighting future skills gaps in the local area. Students discovered how today’s choices can open doors to exciting opportunities in the future.
A rotation of interactive workshops was led by a range of employers, colleges, training providers and WHS Sixth Form team. The students completed an aptitude test, explored how future salaries can shape lifestyle choices, and researched career pathways using Unifrog.
We were delighted to welcome representatives from the NHS, Thomas Graham, Carlisle College, System People and Lloyd Motors, who shared real-world insights and inspired students to think big about their futures and how option subjects link to careers. A huge thank you to all our visitors for helping our students take their first exciting steps towards their GCSE option choices!
