To apply, write a letter answering the following questions:
- How will attending an Outward Bound course make a difference to your character?
Share how this experience could shape you personally, help you grow, and support your development as a person. - Why do you have a passion for the outdoors?
Tell us what excites you about being outside, exploring nature, challenging yourself and engaging with the natural world.
Application Guidelines
- Who can apply?
All students in all year groups - Letter format:
Typed or handwritten letters are accepted. Letters should be no more than 500 words. - Submission details:
Send your letter by email to wdixon@williamhoward.cumbria.sch.uk or by hand to Ms Pigdon.
Deadline: Applications must be submitted by Friday, 12th December 2025.
Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by Ms Pigdon, Mr O’Connor and Ms Harpham.
- Winners will be selected based on how clearly and passionately they express their answers to the two questions.
- Winners of the Golden Tickets will be announced on Wednesday, 17th December 2025.
