U16’s Netball Tournament – Wednesday 10th October.
Netball coach, Miss Carruthers reports: “What a pleasure it was to take the U16’s Netball team to Trinity yesterday evening. The sun shone and the team were in good spirits. I can honestly say that this team has made huge improvements in relation to their competitive game play. Each team member has grown in confidence, skills level and tactical awareness and I am super proud of each and every one of them – they battled hard against some tough competition.”
“Lily and Theo worked hard defensively getting the ball out from the back, it was a solid performance by the pair, backed up with Sasha and Emily who found space to move the ball into the centre third. Katie’s fitness never faltered, she worked tirelessly moving up and down the court supported by a solid performance from Zoe. This led to a successful link between the defence and attack. The attacking trio were on form; shooting was consistent thanks to Alice and Hannah. It was one of the team’s best performances in the last 3 years! Highlights – a win against Trinity (6-5) and Newman (17-0).”
Well done everyone!!
Hockey
Great skills shown from both WHS girls 7-a-side hockey teams in their second match of the season.
The weather was wild and wet, but the team’s spirits remained high as they played against Caldew.
The Year 7/8 team had good possession throughout the first half and were rewarded with a goal and 1-0 lead at half time. In the second half they continued to display good passing, great tackling and used the width more. This resulted in their second goal, producing a 2-0 win!
The Year 8/9 team had a more end-to-end game. Both teams showed great linked up play and at half time, the score was 3-3. The second half continued with more scoring and defending opportunities. The result was a 4 all draw.
Special mention goes to Louise A and Daisy B for being players of the match for their respective teams. Well done to all players!
