Are you currently studying for a degree?

If you’re currently studying for a degree in Chemistry, Mathematics, MFL or Physics, you could carry out a Teaching Internship, which would help you understand what it’s really like to be in a classroom.

The paid Teaching Internship Programme, which is delivered by Cumbria Education Trust, will provide you with an immersive and exciting school experience, over a three week period (Monday 23rd June to Friday 11th July 2025) at William Howard School, Brampton or other partner schools.

During the programme, you will get a feel of day to day school life and experiences could include:

  • shadowing experienced teachers and observing lessons
  • jointly planning and delivering lessons
  • one to one guidance from excellent classroom teachers
  • opportunities to network with qualified subject specialists

As an intern, you will receive £425 per week; a total of £1275 on completion of the three week programme.

“It was incredibly informative and gave me a real insight into the teaching profession. I had the opportunity to observe a variety of classes, and I was even able to teach my own lesson, which was a valuable experience. Overall, it reinforced my decision to pursue a career in teaching, and it ultimately led me to join the ITT programme at William Howard School.”

Current ITT Trainee
