As part of Railway 200—the nationwide celebration marking the 200th anniversary of the modern railway in 2025— our Year 10 Music students are embarking on an exciting creative journey.
Thanks to funding secured by the Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership (TVCRP) from train operator Avanti, the students are working with award-winning singer-songwriters Gareth Davies-Jones and Bronwen Davies-Jones to compose and perform original music inspired by Brampton’s important role in preserving the world-famous Stephenson’s Rocket locomotive.
The collaboration will culminate in a special concert at the end of February, showcasing the new work created by the students alongside the professional musicians.
Not only does the project highlight Brampton’s place in railway history, but it also offers an invaluable opportunity for our young musicians to develop their songwriting, composition, and performance skills under the guidance of experienced professionals.
