Team Inspire Welcome the Penrith Over 65’s Club for Inclusive Sport Morning
Our Team Inspire students were delighted to welcome members of the Penrith Over 65’s Club back to WHS for their second morning of inclusive sport. Following a very successful first meeting last December, the Over 65’s Club arrived in larger numbers, 19 in total, and met with 11 of our students for an exciting morning of activities.
The event began with a warm welcome and introductions, and it was wonderful to see the smiles as students and adults recognised familiar faces from last year.
We split into four groups for the morning’s games. While our ex-student Andrew led a lively table cricket session, the remaining groups played Boccia. The atmosphere was friendly but certainly competitive — more so than Mrs Croucher had expected!
After some energetic play, everyone enjoyed a well-earned refreshment break. The adults welcomed a cuppa, and both students and guests enjoyed biscuits and plenty of conversation. Our visitors were especially keen to chat with students about school life and their plans for the future.
The activities resumed with everyone rotating between Boccia and New Age Kurling, before the morning concluded with a mass Boccia match featuring mixed teams of students and adults.
As the session drew to a close, everyone gathered for a group photo. The smiles on each face said it all — a wonderful time was had by all, and we all agreed we must meet again next year.
The Penrith Over 65’s Club have even invited our students to visit them next time — so perhaps the next round of inclusive sport will be on their turf!
A huge thank you to Jackie and Steve, and to all the members of the Penrith Over 65’s Club, for joining us for such an enjoyable and memorable morning.
Well done to Andrew, Nicky, Eve, Summer, Harry, Emily, Amy, Lewis, Vlad, Mitsy and Amos for making our guests feel so welcome.
