Siobahn from Pet Encounter Cumbria brought along a very unusual array of animals for our students to meet after school yesterday. The group enjoyed the unique hands-on experience, getting up close with a tortoise, a tegu lizard, an African grey parrot, a ball python, and a meerkat.
As well as educating our students about the animals, Siobahn advocated responsible pet ownership – many of the animals in her care have been rescued from unsuitable conditions.
Our Open Spaces Lead, Mrs Booker, has organised a series of cultural enrichment events during the summer term, to allow students novel animal experiences. Next up, we have a falconer (15th May); pony grooming (19th June); and Oak Tree Animal Charity (3rd July). The sessions can be booked via ParentPay or please see Mrs Booker for further details.
