Our cadet members played a big role in our commemorations of today’s 80th anniversary of VE Day.
At 10:45am, they accompanied local veterans to our memorial gardens at the front of the school. Here, wreaths were laid, including two that were created by our Sixth Formers with 80 poppies. Head Student Tom Day and Army Cadet Callum Hughes gave readings and thanked guests for joining us for the event.
At 11:00am, lessons paused as the whole school observed a minute silence.
In the lead up to VE Day, students across the school learnt the significance of the occasion and wrote postcards to a war veteran, Sgt Hussein.
A VE Day-themed bake sale was held during first break and the catering team laid on traditional roast dinners complete with sponge trifle!
