Year 7 Football
The Year 7 boys football team had their first match of the season this week and came out 3-2 winners against QEGS in the County Cup.
Goals were scored by Finn, Max and Curtis. Well done team!
Year 9 Netball
Our Year 9 netball team took part in the Carlisle City Tournament at Trinity yesterday. This was the first fixture for our U14 side and it was great to welcome some new players to the team this year.
Our first game was against Austrin Friars, who were strong from the start with some excellent passing and interceptions. We struggled to get the ball out from the centre pass, meaning that our scoring opportunities were limited. However, with some accurate shooting we were able to score two goals, with the final score being 10-2 to Austin Friars.
Our second game against Morton was much more evenly matched, with William Howard having the majority of the possession. The girls were able to capitalise on some mistakes from Morton to overturn the ball which gave us lots of scoring opportunities, one of which we were able to convert into a goal, allowing us to win the match 1-0.
Our final game was against Trinity B, who passed the ball well throughout the game and were able to take the lead quickly. William Howard did come back in the second half, however the game finished 8-2 to Trinity.
We finished with another friendly game against Morton and some excellent accuracy from our shooters resulted in a 6-0 win to William Howard!
Mrs Holliday said: “This was the first time some of our students had played a netball fixture against another school and I was so proud of their work rate, attitude and sportsmanship. I’m looking forward to seeing the team grow in confidence throughout the year.”
U16 Girls Football
Our U16 girls football team played in the City Tournament held at the Sheepmount last week.
The girls played really well against tough competition with a fantastic 5-1 victory over RRMA – four goals from Hannah F and one from Hannah H.
They defended well against Newman School in a close game, however lost 1-0 with a late goal for Newman.
