The new Year 9 Outdoor Learning course rounded off the term with their own mini search and rescue adventure at Talkin Tarn on Friday. For the past 6 weeks, the students had been completing the search and rescue module for the course, so it was time to put what they had learned into action.
During the afternoon, students were tested in problem solving, first aid and navigation to complete a real-life search and rescue scenario. They had to locate the casualties, administer first aid then call and hand over the rescue to the emergency services. Our very own Sixth Formers acted as the casualties for the afternoon.
We were delighted to have members of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service along to provide some extra training with all their necessary equipment and expertise.
