Cricket
Our Year 7 cricket team were involved in a final-ball thriller against RR Central Academy on Monday night. Although narrowly coming out on the wrong side, it was great to see some fantastic individual contributions and brilliant team spirit along the way.
Year 9 also had a great game, with lovely students from both schools. Although it was unusual playing 45-minute innings, WHS came away with a marginal win. Thank you to RRCA for some brilliant matches!
Athletics
It was a fantastic day of athletics and athleticism on a sunny, showery, windy Tuesday when students from Years 7, 8, 9, and 10 represented WHS at the Track and Field Cup at the Sheepmont in Carlisle.
Students competed in two events as juniors (Yr 7/8) or Inters (Yr 9/10) against 10 other schools from across Cumbria. For some this was about excelling in their chosen event, while for others it was their first opportunity to compete. All students, regardless of ability, showed great resilience in their own events and good support of other team members. Well done to all involved! Thanks also to the Sixth Form Sports Leaders for helping run events.
