WHS is delighted to be one of over 1,200 secondary schools taking part in Bookbuzz, a nationwide reading programme that helps create excitement about books and supports a whole-school reading culture.
Supported by BookTrust, the UK’s biggest reading charity, Bookbuzz gives every new student the chance to choose a book to keep, chosen from 16 fantastic titles selected each year by an expert panel of librarians and teachers.
Our Year 7 students have been visiting the school library with their English tutors to browse the sample copies and select their chosen title. Library staff and tutors were on hand to offer recommendations to anyone finding it tricky to decide!
Students will receive their chosen book in the second half of the autumn term, and all Bookbuzz titles will also be available to borrow from the school library. We can’t wait to see which books become the new favourites this year!
