Food Technology Teacher, Mrs Mothersdale, and Mrs Hill (Careers Lead) were recently invited to nearby Farlam Hall, along with other teachers from North Cumbria schools, in an initiative to highlight careers in hospitality and catering. In conjunction with Cumbria Tourism, Farlam Hall’s Michelin Star Chef, Hrishikesh Desai, is keen to create links between the industry and the curriculum.
Hrishikesh explained how vital each role is within his business: from greeting guests on arrival and providing excellent customer service; to creating an exceptional environment inside and outside of the building, as well as the food itself. Attention to detail is evident and every member of staff is highly valued, with teamwork at the heart of their success.
There are several alumni of William Howard School who work at Farlam Hall. One of whom is Liam Murray, who, under the guidance of Chef Hrishikesh, created a range of canapés for the teachers to try. Liam is currently undertaking an apprenticeship at Farlam Hall through Kendal College.
Cumbria Tourism offer a range of routes into all aspects of the hospitality and catering industry. For more information, please contact Mrs Hill.
