Year 7 and 8 students enjoyed an inspiring Aspirational Careers Event today, hearing from a range of guest speakers and taking part in interactive workshops designed to broaden their horizons and introduce them to future career pathways.
Speakers included representatives from Northwest Ambulance Service Paramedics, Thomas Graham discussing careers linked to STEM, Gen2 explaining apprenticeship opportunities, and Carlisle College outlining the college application process. During one session, students also had the chance to meet a fascinating range of animals, where they learned from Cumbria Pet Encounter about careers in conservation, zoology and veterinary science.
We were also delighted to welcome Hrishikesh Desai, Chef Patron of the Michelin-starred Farlam Hall, who shared his remarkable career journey – from being named Young Chef of the Year to cooking for the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong. During breaktime, Hrishikesh also met with students from across different year groups to talk about careers in hospitality and answer their questions.
A huge thank you to all of our contributors for giving their time to support and inspire our students today.
