Our ‘Not in Our School’ mantra is an important part of our ethos at William Howard School – we take a clear and united stand against discrimination of any kind. Through assemblies, tutor programmes and our Personal Development curriculum we are working together to promote equality, respect, and understanding of all protected characteristics within our school community.
October marks Black History Month nationally and we will be focusing on this important event throughout the school. Mr Priddle, Assistant Headteacher and teacher of History, will be leading assemblies throughout next week on this year’s theme of ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride.’
As part of our commitment to equality and inclusion, William Howard School will also be taking part in the national ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ initiative. On Friday 17th October, all students are encouraged to wear an item of red clothing (such as a t-shirt, jumper, hairband, or tie) to show unity and support in standing against all forms of racism. As always, we continue to promote the values of the William Howard Way. One key aspect of this is kindness and we remind our students and families that it is always ‘Cool to be Kind’! Together, we can make sure that our school remains a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us make William Howard School a welcoming and inclusive community for all!
