This week’s Headteacher’s Award goes to Morven Yerbury in Year 12, a highly valued prefect.
Morven is a student who exemplifies the William Howard Way in everything she does. Since joining in Year 7, she has embraced every opportunity available to her, and as a Sixth Form student she continues to flourish.
Most recently, Morven has selflessly dedicated her free periods to supporting A Level Drama and GCSE Dance students with their practical performances. This commitment extended beyond the school day, requiring her to attend additional rehearsals during lunchtime and throughout the Easter holidays. Despite this, she maintained excellent focus on her own studies, meeting all deadlines and ensuring her academic progress remained strong. Her willingness to invest time and energy in the success of others is exceptional, demonstrating both respect and a genuine commitment to her peers.
Within the Drama department, Morven has been an outstanding contributor—taking on a lead role in High School Musical and participating in a range of performances and events including the CET@10 showcase, the CET Conference, and the DADA Showcase. Her enthusiasm and talent have made a lasting impact.
Beyond Dance and Drama, Morven has also shown her usual level of dedication to the wider school community. She has supported younger students as a language tutor for GCSE pupils and has taken on the important role of Youth Health Champion.
Morven has made an impactful contribution to the Year 11’s preparation for their GCSE speaking exams during morning tutoring sessions. She is highly valued by the pupils she tutors; her knowledge and patience have gone a long way in helping her tutees.
Currently Morven is leading a group of Year 9 students through their Youth Health Champions Award. During this process she is leading meetings and supporting these students to develop school wide campaigns to improve the health and wellbeing of others. She is a fantastic role model!
Outside of school, Morven continues to pursue her passion for performance with StagedRight and CDA, alongside maintaining a part-time job. The balance she achieves across these commitments is truly impressive, reflecting her exceptional dedication, organisation and drive.
Morven is an exceptional role model and a valued member of the school community. Above all, she does this with the biggest smile on her face!
