We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of Annie Booker, a former William Howard School student who left in 2017 and has gone on to build an inspiring creative career.
After leaving William Howard, Annie pursued her passion for art by completing a Level 3 Diploma and Foundation Degree in Art and Design at college. She then continued her studies at the University of the West of England, where she further developed her distinctive artistic style.
Today, Annie is a successful author and illustrator based in Bristol, with a deep love for wildlife and conservation. Inspired by her aunt’s wildlife paintings, Annie’s artwork beautifully reflects her appreciation for the natural world.
Annie’s talent and dedication have earned her several awards, including the Batford Prize for Illustration. Her debut book, “The Great Bear”, is a stunningly illustrated retelling of an Inuit folk tale that explores themes of nature, empathy, and redemption.
We are especially proud that Annie’s mum is a valued member of staff here at William Howard — a lovely reminder of how creativity and commitment run in the family.
Annie’s journey is an inspiration to all our students, showing that with passion, perseverance, and imagination, you can turn your dreams into reality.
