Chris Jones, a student with many talents and an excellent attitude towards his learning, received this week’s Headteacher’s Award. The Year 10 student recently created an online game to support his peer group with mock exam revision, he then shared it to all students studying Spanish in his year group. Year 10 students have signed up for the game on their phones which supports learning of the exam specification vocabulary (quite literally 1000s of words). It has supported so many of them to revise for their mocks and there is now a leader board for it.
Chris took the personal time to shape it so that his peers could access all the very specific vocabulary that was given out by the classroom teacher.
Spanish teacher Mrs O’Connor says, “It is a wonderful revision tool which has created a very good sense of comradery and competition. Students who don’t even know Chris that well are using it. I think it is this type of attitude; compassion towards others but focused on academic excellence, which really is the type of character we like to celebrate.”
