An excited table cricket team headed to Carlilse College to compete in the Lord’s Taverners North Cumbria Schools Table Cricket Competition on Wednesday 13th March. The competition grows each year and this time there were 13 teams from across the North of Cumbria fighting for a place in the county finals this coming Friday. The sports hall was already buzzing when we arrived with teams practising their skills.
Only the winner of each pool would go through to the county finals, so our team knew that they had to play well in all their four matches. They started off with a strong win against Morton Academy 263 runs to 197. They then drew against St Benedict’s School. Cockermouth School, who had won all their matches up to this point, were the next opponents, so our team knew they had to win. They rose to the occasion, upped their game and won the match 259 runs to 222. They were delighted! This left one final match to play against Mayfield which they again went on to win ensuring themselves a place in the county finals along with Trinity School and Ullswater Community College.
Congratulations to the team, Andrew (captain), Sarah, Samuel, Summer, Nicky, Levi, Emily and Lewis. Well done on your excellent team work, fielding and batting skills.
Good luck for this Friday!
